West of England Bandsmen's Festival
Bugle
18th June 2011
Foresters Brass 2000 are clearly a good band and the decision to compete in the top two sections did not damage its performance in the first as it took top spot for both Peniel and The President. In Peniel, in particular, it was impressive but Camborne Brass can count itself a little unlucky not to have claimed one of the top spots.
Alan Pope's young band certainly had a touch of class. The President opened in fine style and the audience clearly enjoyed the slick performance. There seemed little to fault in Peniel but, with two good performances to choose from, William Relton preferred the band from the Midlands and Camborne Brass had to be satisfied with two 2nd places.
Despite the defeat, the Band delivered two performances that delighted its supporters and has retained its reputation as the best first section band in Cornwall.

West of England Championship 12th March 2011
Riviera International Conference Centre
First Section
Le Carnival Romain
Aldbourne and Bournemouth Concert Brass deservedly took the honours in the first section and we wish them well when they represent the Southwest at the National Finals. There were a number of good performances of this very difficult piece and Camborne "B" were among those that gave a good account of itself. A position a few places higher than 8th seemed likely but a top half placing was thoroughly deserved. Congratulations to Alan, the excellent soloists and all the players. Perhaps also, a special mention of the excellent bass section.
