New Players

We would like to welcome 3 new players to the band. Juliet Richards and David Barnes have joined, further strengthening the ever improving cornet section. Simon Phillips who works at the local music shop, Trevada Music, has joined our percussion section and is a superb addition to the band also.

Taunton Concert - A Great Success

On Saturday 8th October the Band travelled to the Queens College Theatre in Taunton to take part in the Quartz Arts Festival. The guest conductor for the evening was Lt. Col. Chris Davis from the Royal Marines who entertained a large audience with his anecdotes and jokes. The band played a selection of entertaining pieces culminating in a tribute to the VE/VJ Day war heroes.

Steve & Vicki Tie The Knot

Saturday 24th September saw the marriage of Musical Director, Steve Thomas to Solo Cornet player, Vicki Kellow at St. Erth church. Guest conductor, Ray Farr led Camborne Town Band through three pieces during the service. The reception was held at the Penventon Hotel and a great day was had by all.

Congratulations to Steve & Vicki and we all wish them a happy & healthy future together.

Sunday 28th August - Band Bid Farewell To Duo

After many years of tireless service, the Band tonight bid farewell to Baritone player Rachel Trudgeon, and Soprano Cornetist Jeremy Squibb.

Jeremy has immediately left to take up the Soprano vacancy at Helston Town Band.

We wish both of them the very best for the future, and thank them for all the hard work put in over their time with the band.

We are delighted to announce that the new Webmaster of the website is Second Trombone player Neil Murley.

Wednesday  13th July - Ray Farr To Conduct At Constantine

We are delighted to announce, that Ray Farr will be travelling to Cornwall this weekend to direct the band at Constantine Band Sunday.  Ray, one of the Band's professional conductors for 2005 and 2006 will be in the County for just a short period of time, and after a rehearsal will direct the band at the annual Brass On The Grass in Constantine, commencing at 6.30 pm with a march through the village.

Ray will be back in Cornwall in September, when he will not only direct the band at Musical Director Steve Thomas' wedding to Vicky Kellow, but will conduct the Band the following evening at our Proms concert in Penzance.



Tuesday 12th July - New Chairman Appointed

Following the recent resignation of Reg Bennett as Chairman of the music society, we are pleased to announce this evening, that Michael Weeks has been unanimously elected as his  successor.

Resuming the post he held some years ago, Michael, who for many years was a key part of one of the most successful periods which Camborne Town Band has seen, is said to be chomping at the bit, and keen to commence work in his new post as soon as possible.



Tuesday 5th July - Special Guest Conductor Lined Up For Constantine

Over the next few days, we will be announcing a special guest conductor who will be in Cornwall especially to direct the band at the ever popular Band Sunday.
This year's event is made yet more special by having four bands - Constantine, St Keverne, Helston, and of course, Camborne.

Friday 1st July - 2006 Conductors Announced

We are delighted to announce the Band's professional contest conductors for 2006.
Returning for a sixth successive year in a bid to take the band back to London is Frank Renton.  Frank will not only direct the Band at the Area competition in Torquay, but also at Bugle in June as the band look to complete a remarkable five wins in a row.

For Yeovil Contest, the Band bring in the king of entertainment himself - Ray Farr, in a bid to move further up the placings, and pick up some silverware once again from this great contest.  Ray will then return to the band for the long trip to Blackpool and the Senior Trophy, where we aim to comfortably secure promotion to The Senior Cup for 2007.
